Join a Wellfleet Bay naturalist for a short boat trip over to North Beach Island in Chatham. We'll comb the beach and the wrackline in search of natural treasures and observe birds, seals, and other wildlife. Trips are offered for families and for adults. Be prepared to walk up to 2 miles in soft sand.
Pre-registration is required; program registrations will not be taken on-site by the program leader.
This trip meets at Cow Yard Landing on Cow Yard Lane in Chatham from where we will carpool to the Chatham Fish Pier. From the fish pier we will take a short boat shuttle over to the island. Please be at the meeting location 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
This trip involves wading ashore from a boat; your feet will get wet and you may get wet up to your knees, depending on the tide and your stature. Please be prepared to walk on wet sand for up to 2 miles. You will be exposed to sun, wind, and salt spray. We recommend that you bring binoculars, sunscreen, windbreaker, hat, and drinking water. Bathrooms are NOT available on the island (or at the meeting location).
