Bird nests, important in raising young and often well-hidden, become visible as the seasons change. Fall and winter offer the opportunity to study nests and to appreciate the engineering ability of the small creatures that use only their beaks and legs to create a safe place to raise their young. Start this program with hands-on observation of bird nests from the Sanctuary's permitted collection, then walk the Sanctuary trails with an expert naturalist to search for nests in their natural setting. Leave with a better appreciation of the detail and effort involved in nest building, from site selection to blueprint to construction.
Please note: This program will be conducted in accordance with current municipal, state, and Mass Audubon Covid-19 protocols. This program will meet and take place outdoors.
