Please join us for a planting event for our USFWS Candidate Conservation Action Fund grant project! We have over 2,000 Wild Indigo (Baptisia tinctoria) plugs that need to be planted at our Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary and at the Town's Foothills Preserve. Why are we planting so many Wild Indigo plugs? Wild Indigo is the host plant of the Frosted Elfin (Callophrysirus). The Frosted Elfin is a species of special concern in the state of Massachusetts and is considered an 'at risk' species by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The main objective of this multi-year grant-funded project is to convert former gravel pits to native meadows in order to provide habitat for the Frosted Elfin butterfly. We are looking forward to having you help out with this initiative!

Instructions and Directions:

This event will take place entirely outdoors; please come prepared for a walk and wear sturdy shoes. This event requires completing physical tasks and walking on uneven surfaces. There is a port-a-potty on site. Please bring your own water and lunch! Planting activities will involve digging, bending, and squatting. You are not required to stay for the entire duration of the event and can come and go as you please.

Meet in the Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary parking lot, 60 Beaver Dam Road, Plymouth, MA.

Once you have signed up, please be on the lookout for an email from [email protected] a few days before the event!
