The Farm at Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary in Sharon is excited to collaborate with our colleagues at Boston Nature Center in Mattapan to bring fresh, certified organic produce to shareholders over 18 weeks beginning the Thursday after Memorial Day. Moose Hill will harvest from our fields that morning and bring the vegetables to Boston Nature Center for pick-up starting in the late afternoon.
Become part of The Farm! Our farm in Sharon is a partnership between Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary and Ward's Berry Farm with a focus on our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program!
Each share can fill the weekly vegetable needs of a family of 4, or 2-4 adults, depending on how often you cook and how central vegetables are to your diet.
Looking to save a little money? Commit to 8 hours of your time harvesting/weeding at The Farm in Sharon (a half-hour drive from Mattapan) or helping at pick-up at the Boston Nature Center (limited availability) and you can save $75 on the season. If interested in this option, choose the Community Supported Agriculture Work Share - Boston Nature Center in the catalog!
The season starts with leafy greens, spring onions, and radishes. A share in the height of summer may include lettuce, radish, broccoli, heirloom tomatoes, plum tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers, hot peppers, beans, peas, eggplant, sweet corn, melons, squash, potatoes, and sunflowers.
As a CSA shareholder, you will receive weekly emails with updates on what you will receive at the next pick-up as well as a link to our blog, Moose Hill Tracks and Trails, containing storage tips, recipes, stories about our farmers, and farming practices.
The first distribution date: while we plan for distribution to begin the Thursday after Memorial Day, it may be a little earlier than we expect or a week later, depending on the weather and growing conditions. We will send an email confirming the first distribution date as we get closer to the start of the season.
Please note that our CSA is available only to Mass Audubon members - not a member, no problem; membership can be purchased at the time of registration. The cost of membership is in addition to the price of the share.
In addition, we often partner with other Massachusetts farms and growers to offer optional add-ons for our CSA shareholders. We will notify you of these options as they become available, along with pricing and how to sign up.
Register now by clicking on the Add to cart button in the upper right hand corner. Please note that 1 adult member = 1 share. If you would prefer to receive the CSA Registration form, you can download it at www.massaudbon.org/moosehillcsa or contact us at email@example.com and we will email you the form to fill out and mail in or drop off.
All final balances for CSA shares will be due on April 1. We will send email reminders and instructions on how to pay the balance prior to that date. After April 1, full payment is due at the time of registration.
Thursday CSA shares are distributed at Boston Nature Center and one of the Moose Hill Farmhands will be on-hand to answer any questions. Parking is available; remember to bring bags with you for your pick-up.
Once registered, look for your confirmation email from Mass Audubon which will provide a link with more information on the option to add-on a free range Chip-in Farm Egg Share.
