Take your first step toward becoming a Joppa Flats education volunteer with these in-the-field trainings. Our education volunteers help staff and field teachers present programs to schools, groups, and families throughout the school year in a wide variety of environments.

Come to one or both of our trainings. On September 13, visit the sandy beach and rocky shore to learn how to find, identify, and discuss life on the beach and how climate change is affecting these ecosystems. On September 20, we'll visit our Bird Banding Station to learn about the data that is collected on live birds, and we'll do some birding afterwards in the maritime forest to learn about the mportance of the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge as an Atlantic Flyway for migratory birds.
