Spend the morning looking for evidence of wildlife activity among the pines at Mosely Woods in Newburport. POSTPONED FROM JANUARY 17
*February 14: For the Love of Birds
Wintering birds in this area include raptors, waterfowl, and songbirds that frequnt feeders. We'll search the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge for owls, hawks, eagles, and ducks, then participate in some backyard bird banding.
March 27: Seal Scouting at Salisbury Beach
Visit the mouth of the Merrimack River to view and photograph Harbor Seals, wintering ducks, and possibily Snowy Owls.
April 10: Spring Ponding at Camp Kent Nature Center
This is a great time and place to discover the wildlife differences in a pond versus a vernal pool. As a bonus, there will be plenty of rotting logs hiding other exciting early spring creatures just waiting to be found.
May 29: In Search of Horseshoe Crabs
It's the season for horseshoe crabs to come ashore to lay their eggs, and we aim to witness this remarkable event! Learn about the life cycle of these "living fossils" with our collection of live horseshoe crabs, ages 1, 3, and 10 years old.
Meet at Joppa Flats Education Center. Dress for the weather and bring a nut-free snack. A health form for your child will accompany your registration confirmation and needs to be submitted before the session. Programs are not designed to include siblings who fall outside the age range.
