Take a boat ride to Machias Seal Island, 10 miles off the coast of Maine, to view stunning Atlantic Puffins in their colorful breeding plumage, along with Razorbills, Arctic Terns, and Common Murres. This is the spot to see and photograph Atlantic Puffins up close and personal. In the boreal forests search for nesting warblers, vireos, and thrushes and look for northern specialty birds including Boreal Chickadee, Spruce Grouse, and Canada Jay. Along the coast explore Cobscook Bay and Quoddy Head Light, and scan for seabirds, whales, and dolphins from the cliffs and ledges. This is Down East Maine! You'll thoroughly enjoy the unique ecology of this region, including boreal forests, raised bogs, and an offshore seabird nesting colony.
