Programs for Groups at Long Pasture
Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary offers a variety of fun and educational nature-based programs for community groups, adults, scout troops, homeschool, and more.
Community Groups
We offer more than 20 different group programs, each of which focuses on a different topic, location, and/or habitats. There are three types of programs to choose from:
- Naturalist-guided field walks in a variety of habitats
- Kayaking excursions around the Cape
- Indoor lectures about a wide range of nature topics
Scout Programs
Long Pasture offers programs for all levels of Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Our qualified educators are available to lead groups, exploring diverse habitats of the wildlife sanctuary and covering many natural history topics.
We can design a program to fulfill some of the requirements of a specific badge. Self-guided hikes can also be arranged. Programs are offered after school or on weekends. Ask us about opportunities for Eagle or Gold Award projects.
Homeschool Programs
Our homeschool programs are designed to encourage children to interact with the environment through nature exploration and science-based learning. Whenever possible we split large groups into small teams to make these experiences more personal.
Portions of the program will take place indoors, but most days we anticipate spending the majority of time outdoors at the wildlife sanctuary. Participants may also receive "home projects" each week to help further their learning and to share with their families.
Facility Rentals
We have facilities available for rental by private and public groups and wedding ceremonies. Our sanctuary offers a spectacular view of Barnstable Harbor and Sandy Neck Barrier Beach which is beautiful in all seasons. Learn more about facility rentals at Long Pasture
