Youth Climate Leadership Program
Introduce yourself and we'll connect you with a mentor and plenty of resources to get started.
Mass Audubon's Youth Climate Leadership Program (YCLP) is a youth-led, action-oriented climate change program that builds climate literacy, meaningful and hopeful connections, and equitable community climate solutions.
In partnership with local schools, nonprofits, research institutions, and universities, the YCLP connects youth changemakers with experts and mentors to guide them in planning and implementing innovative climate action in local schools and communities.
How it Works
Step 1 – Ask & Imagine
Youth participate in Youth Climate Summits, hosted by Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuaries and our partners. At these events, Mass Audubon staff, local experts, mentors, and youth collectively tackle the question: "How can we act on climate change in our communities?" Youth changemakers collaborate with each other to imagine what community-level equitable climate action could look like and brainstorm the subject of their Climate Action Projects.
Step 2 – Plan & Act
After the Youth Climate Summits, youth leaders and mentors continue to guide changemaker teams to develop climate literacy and professional skills to implement their ambitious, innovative Climate Action Projects.
Step 3 – Evaluate & Share
Changemaker teams and youth leaders have the opportunity to reflect and share the products of their hard work with their communities. Youth will learn how to evaluate their work and identify ways to improve their projects and expand climate action beyond the program.
Step 4 – Become a Regional Youth Climate Leader
Youth changemakers who want to increase their involvement with the YCLP are invited to join their regional Youth Climate Leadership Team. They will continue to grow their leadership skills, organize Youth Climate Summits, and connect with other youth who are passionate about spreading awareness about environmental justice and climate change solutions.
Support the Program
Our partners are indispensable in supporting our youth in professional development, climate literacy, and climate action. If you're an educator, industry expert, or experienced advocate, we need your help to make our vision a reality.
We're working to expand this program, providing every youth with access and opportunity to lead climate action in their community.
