Protecting Land & Wildlife
Land conservation is an important component of Mass Audubon’s advocacy work. We lobby state and federal legislators for funding to protect open space for conservation, recreation, and responsible uses like sustainable forestry, farming, and fishing.
Although Mass Audubon has no position on the merits of gambling, we do have concerns with projects that would have major implications for the environment like resort destination casinos and have made recommendations for their reduced environmental impact.

Our Shaping the Future of Your Community program helps guide communities on sustainable development measures they can take and offers ways for cities, towns, and individuals to responsibly manage their land. Losing Ground, a Mass Audubon report published every five years, looks at land development trends across the state and makes recommendations for improvement.
Mass Audubon advocates for the conservation of birds, wildlife, and habitat through our work at the federal, state, and local levels of government. Learn more >
