About This Position
Join our team of enthusiastic, creative, dedicated camp instructors at Habitat Nature Camp. The Program Coordinator – Trips & Overnights (also called a Voyagers Instructor) works together collaboratively to design and teach natural history lessons for 10 campers ages 12-14. Through day trips and 2-night camp-outs, Voyagers campers will learn about human impact on the nature of New England

Duties & Responsibilities
- Protect the physical and emotional welfare of campers, fellow staff, and self and identify safety issues related to camp program
- Work with peers to develop and teach natural history lesson plans and prepare materials as needed
- Along with 1 co-leader, assume responsibility for 10 campers, on offsite day and overnight trips
- Communicate with the Camp Director while offsite to communicate any issues Have the ability to lead groups over rough terrain;
- Maintain an organized work environment and participate in daily camp cleaning tasks
- Assume additional related duties as requested
- Appropriately address and communicate with campers and families

We are looking for applicants with the following qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years of age and at least two years’ experience supervising pre-teens, especially in an outdoor setting
- Provide documented proof of immunity or vaccination record as mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and complete the camp’s health form and waiver
- Must have a valid driver’s license and have 3 years of driving experience
- Must enjoy working with children/youth, be able to work both cooperatively and independently, be flexible and responsible
- Must have the ability to lead groups over rough terrain
- Demonstrated ability to promote and respect diversity
- Must have community CPR/First Aid certifications current through August 2022 or willing to obtain before June (we will offer a class)
- We encourage applicants with a diversity of interests and work experience to apply. Interest or studies in environmental science, education, psychology, biology, agriculture, food justice, or related fields are helpful
Compensation & Benefits
This position’s base salary range is $16.25 - $18.50; actual salary will reflect level of experience and qualifications relative to position requirements.
This is not a benefits eligible position.
Position runs for 11 weeks, Monday through Friday, 8:15 am-4:15 pm
Training (paid): June 13-24
Summer camp: June 27-August 26
Employees must successfully complete a CORI and SORI Background Check and a Motor Vehicle Record (if applicable) is required.
Mass Audubon requires that all staff, regardless of their work location, disclose their vaccination status. Proof of vaccination status will be required immediately upon hire. This should also include a booster shot if it has been 5 months since you were initially vaccinated.
