Farm Fieldworkers – The Farm at Moose Hill
Are you curious about where your food comes from, looking to raise your environmental awareness, and interested in improving your skills in sustainability? Want to spend the summer outside, make a difference, and get paid for it? The Farm at Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary is a part of Mass Audubon and provides fresh, organic produce to 200 families through our CSA program, to a number of visitors at our weekend Farm Stand and at an urban Farmer’s Market. We seek hard-working individuals with an interest in local food systems and sustainable agriculture to join our team for the 2021 season.
Responsibilities
Fieldworkers harvest crops, load vegetables, and hand weed on 17 acres. You’ll work hard as part of our team, but you’ll learn a lot and have a chance to teach others by working alongside and guiding volunteers and CSA shareholders. You’ll spend your time in the field, in both rain and high heat, assist with farm stand and CSA setup, and with the washing of produce.
At Moose Hill, we are committed to farming organically and work closely with our partners at a neighboring farm. Our partner uses crop rotation that includes fallowing with green manures, spreading organic compost, and careful monitoring of soil organic matter and fertility. We use drip irrigation when needed in one field and rely on soil fertility for our other field.
