Education Coordinator
About This Position
The Boston Nature Center (BNC) is hiring an enthusiastic and experienced education coordinator who will develop and implement environmental lessons and activities in schools and outdoor classrooms and work in collaboration with the education manager to coordinate, manage, and market an array of education programs for youth and educators with a special focus on K-12 teaching in Boston Public Schools. You will support Boston’s innovative and culturally responsive educational programs offered to Boston children throughout the year and ensure high-quality program delivery.
Join a dynamic, creative team to plan, prepare and conduct age-appropriate, hands-on science lessons and coach classroom teachers in the use of inquiry-based teaching methods utilizing outdoor classrooms to integrate science throughout their curriculum. In the summer you will coordinate Boston’s Summer Discoveries Program. In this role, you will supervise a dynamic team of summer educators (1-4), direct a high-quality science program for children ages 5 to 15 and support participating camps and connect them with this unique nature-based program. The ideal candidate will also support Mass Audubon’s commitment to climate change education, equity, and justice and bring a diverse range of experiences, expressions, and views to their work.
BNC is a beautiful 67-acre wildlife sanctuary located in the heart of a bustling city. BNC has grown into a vibrant urban community nature center which offers a host of programs including a nationally-accredited summer camps, a licensed nature preschool, public programs, comprehensive school-age programs, and professional development for local educators. With over 17,000 children taking part in BNC environmental education programs, children ages three to eighteen are exploring and learning about urban nature in their school yards, in their neighborhoods and at the sanctuary.
