About This Position

The Day Camp Coordinator oversees the staff and campers and all aspects of the Day Camp Program at Wildwood.  

Duties & Responsibilities

Organize and oversee all aspects of Day Camp life

  • Ensure day camp counselors are looking after camper needs appropriately 
  • Take responsibility for camper safety and follow emergency procedures as needed 
  • Lead creative morning meetings  
  • Supervise counselor and camper behavior and duties during lunch
  • Successfully manage all aspects of a safe and timely pick up and drop off routine
  • Manage the schedules of campers and staff
  • Support and mentor Day Camp Counselors 
  • Ensure counselors are meeting expectations and abiding by policies
  • Provide one-on-one feedback to counselors at least once weekly
  • Along with an administrator, deliver a mid-season evaluation for each counselor
  • Assist counselors in conflict resolution 
  • Be available regularly to listen to and address counselor concerns
  • Contribute to the development of a positive, supportive camp community
  • Lead spontaneous activities during unstructured times
  • Deliver high-quality program activities
  • Facilitate high-quality activities as scheduled 
  • Arrive on time and fully prepared to lead all scheduled activities
  • Generate excitement for programs through personal enthusiasm and skits
  • Making topics engaging, fun and educational for participants

We are looking for applicants with the following qualifications:

  • Applicants must have experience working with groups of children and an interest in teaching about the natural environment. 
  • Day Camp Coordinator must be at least 21 years of age, hold current First Aid and CPR certifications. 
  • Prior management experience and valid driver’s license preferred. 

Compensation & Benefits

This position’s base salary range is $ 16 - $20 an hour; actual salary will reflect level of experience and qualifications relative to position requirements.

This is not a benefits eligible position.

Additional Information

This is a full time position.

The Day Camp Coordinator will be expected to participate in Staff training which beings June 11th and will last for two weeks. Day Camp does not begin until July 11th. In between staff training ending and camp beginning the coordinator will be expected to assist in operating overnight camp as well as the planning of day camp. While Day Camp ends on Friday August 12th, the Day Camp Coordinator is expected to stay and clean camp on Saturday August 13th. There are also additional opportunities to work at camp for two additional weeks if desired.

Other Requirements:

Employees must successfully complete a CORI and SORI Background Check and a Motor Vehicle Record (if applicable) is required.

Mass Audubon requires that all staff, regardless of their work location, disclose their vaccination status. Proof of vaccination status will be required immediately upon hire. This should also include a booster shot if it has been 5 months since you were initially vaccinated.
