About This Position
Avian field technician (1) needed for approximately May 24-July 16 to complete point count surveys in Bartlett Experimental Forest (NH) and the Quabbin Reservoir watershed (MA). The successful applicant will have significant point count experience and be able to identify the forest birds of Massachusetts and New Hampshire by sight and sound. They will also be able to navigate off-trail, including on steep terrain, using maps, a compass, and a GPS unit. An ability to work early mornings and independently while following a strict and specific protocol is also required. Surveys will begin in the month of June following a few days of training. Technician will also be responsible for data entry, which can be done after field days, but also during the month of July.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay is $17.00/hour. Technician will use their own vehicles, but mileage reimbursement is available. Reimbursement for short-term housing may be provided as necessary.
Mass Audubon requires that all staff, regardless of their work location, disclose their vaccination status. Proof of vaccination status will be required immediately upon hire.
