School & Group Programs at Tidmarsh
At Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary, we offer a variety of engaging and educational environmental programs for students in Pre-K through Grade 12, as well as college and community groups. Programs can be scheduled weekdays or weekends year-round.
We have 3.5 miles of trails traversing 481 acres of wetlands, upland forests, and meadows all of which support abundant and diverse wildlife. The unique history and restoration story of Tidmarsh makes it the ideal backdrop for discovering the impacts of humans on the environment and acquiring the knowledge and skills to affect positive change in the natural world.
Sample Program Topics
Ecosystem Exploration - Plant/Animal Adaptations – Climate Change - Interpretive Hikes - Life Cycles
Tidmarsh offers a diversity of programs that are aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Education frameworks and optimize student learning and engagement.
Whether the program takes place at your site or ours, we will work with you to develop a curriculum that meets your needs.
At the Sanctuary
Through guided explorations of our wetlands, pond, stream, and forest upland habitats students participate in hands on, inquiry based learning activities.
Programs focus on skill building and using tools to collect data, draw conclusions, and think critically about the natural world. Each program will be geared to the age level and curriculum needs of the students.
At Your School
Many of our school programs can be taught as a classroom presentation or outdoor exploration at your site! Tidmarsh educators will visit your classroom and engage students in interactive discussions and activities that deepen their understanding of the natural world and their connection to it. Programs may include live animal interactions, hands-on specimen observation, games, and more.
Tidmarsh offers programs for all levels of Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts! Our qualified educators are available to lead groups, exploring diverse habitats of the wildlife sanctuaries and covering many natural history topics.
Our programs are designed for hands-on discovery and encourage scouts to work together to gain an appreciation for the natural world. We offer several themes to fit your troop's/den's interests, including Journey and Badge Programs, Scout Night Hikes, and Scout Owl Prowls.
We can also design a program to fulfill the requirements of a specific badge. Ask us about opportunities for Eagle or Gold Award projects!
