Volunteer Program Takes Flight at Tidmarsh

Volunteers have been vital to the success of Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary ever since it first opened in 2018. And since then, the potential opportunities for volunteers to get involved have only increased. That's why we're thrilled to announce the launch of an expanded, more robust volunteer program!

"There are a few individuals whose volunteerism provided key support during a very critical time in the sanctuary's inaugural years," says new Volunteer Coordinator Carrie Sweigart. "We've relied on the work of a few to do the work of many, and we're so grateful for all of their hard work."

This larger volunteer program comes at an exciting time for Tidmarsh. After more than two years, the sanctuary is now ready to expand its capacity and bring a focus to community engagement and building its volunteer program. With spring just around the corner, we're busy building the foundation of a program that will attract and retain volunteers for years to come. And we invite you to join us!

Be a Nature Hero

If you're passionate about being outdoors in nature, and you want to help ensure that the incredible value this sanctuary offers the community remains intact for decades to come, then we hope you'll consider volunteering with us. We're seeking to grow Tidmarsh's corps of volunteers while also igniting a spirit of volunteerism among the sanctuary's supporters and members of the community.

And thanks to our expanded volunteer program, there are lots of new ways you can get involved! Volunteers can help monitor and maintain the trails, assist in building an outdoor classroom, or even co-lead an education program. Many opportunities can be done on your own schedule at your own pace, and not all volunteer openings are tied to specific dates or programs. Carrie is also hard at work reaching out to prospective groups and organizations in Plymouth that might be looking for corporate volunteer opportunities.

"If you're willing to donate your time, we'll find a way for you to volunteer that matches your passion and interests," says Carrie.

How to Get Involved

We welcome the opportunity to connect with new volunteers! Take a look at our Volunteer Opportunities page to see our current openings.
