Mass Audubon's Firefly Watch is back for another season, and we're celebrating with our Fantastic Firefly Festival!

Join South Shore Sanctuaries staff and firefly aficionados Don Salvatore and Jacqui Shuster at North River Wildlife Sanctuary for an evening full of firefly fun. With games, activities, crafts, and demonstrations, all ages will find something to enjoy.

You'll also learn how to identify, count, and report data on our resident fireflies through Firefly Watch!

Admission

$8 adult/$5 child (Members)  $10 adult/$7 child (Nonmembers)

Preregistration is not required, but it's strongly recommended due to space limitations.

You don’t need to attend for the whole time, but arrive by 7:15 pm if you want to participate in all the activities.

Guided walk with tips to look for & identify fireflies

Ongoing Activities

  • Crafts—make a firefly mask, a firefly hat, and a light-up firefly to take home
  • Firefly ID Challenge—test your firefly IQ
  • Hands-on science—create a portable "habitat decoder" tool & firefly "flash card" to help you ID fireflies in the field
