Discover Cape Cod by Kayak

Kayaking by an active Osprey nesting pole at Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary

With record heat waves in the books by June, this summer is proving to be one of the hottest in recent memory. Luckily there's an easy and fun way to beat the heat—exploring Cape Cod by water!

Long Pasture's kayak trips take place in one of the Cape's most beautiful settings—Barnstable Harbor—and they're a great way to get close views of wildlife.

"Kayaking is relatively quiet, and birds are less likely to flush," notes Sean Kortis, Long Pasture's adult programs coordinator. "You often get to see them at eye level, too."

Some trips also include a chance to see fascinating man-made structures. Particular favorites are the Sandy Neck lighthouse and a remote cottage colony, which provides a glimpse of what summer life was like on Cape Cod in the early 20th century.

Reserve Your Spot!

Programs run several times weekly and are limited to 10 participants per outing. Children age 16 or older are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
