Become a Volunteer at Long Pasture

As we prepare for what promises to be an especially busy summer, Long Pasture could use some extra help!

The sanctuary has openings for certain volunteer positions, including a naturalist, gardeners, and visitor services at the outdoor kiosk and, later this summer, the new Discovery Center.

“Our greeters answer questions about the trails, wildlife people have seen, and becoming a Mass Audubon member,” says administrative assistant Kathie Roche. “It’s a great opportunity to meet people from all over the country and to learn about some of the natural history of the Cape.”

Gardeners help manage Long Pasture’s popular Butterfly Mosaic Trail as well as the recently created Food Forest, which features native food-producing trees, shrubs and perennials.

There’s also a need this summer for property staff volunteers to do outdoor work, such as trail maintenance and repairs, and building clean-up. Ideally, volunteers will work from 3 to 6 hours and commit to a regular schedule. If interested, please email Kathie or call 508-362-7475 ext. 9353.
