A view of Straitsmouth Island from the water

It's back! Join us at True North Ale Company on Wednesday, February 26, from 6:30-8:00 pm, for an evening of local brews and the story behind a recent conservation success on the North Shore.

In summer 2018, Straitsmouth Island—located off of Rockport—opened to the public for the first time in 180 years. Grab a beer from True North's broad selection and enjoy some food while listening to historian and author Paul St. Germain recount the riveting story of the island's history and the journey to its remarkable reopening.

Drawing from historical archives as well as personal experience, Paul will give lead you on a virtual tour of Straitsmouth. You'll also learn about the joint effort between the Town of Rockport, Mass Audubon, and the Thacher Island Association to make all of the much-needed improvements to create public access to the island.
