Located just six miles from downtown Boston, Habitat Education Center in Belmont is an 88-acre oasis and a haven for wildlife.

The sanctuary contains woodlands, meadows, ponds, vernal pools, and gardens. Habitat also features monthly art shows in the Gallery.

Your Group, Our Programs

Adult Group Programs at Habitat offer a chance to experience the sanctuary in unique and engaging ways suitable for senior centers, libraries, garden clubs, historical groups, and other adult clubs and organizations. 

We offer onsite and outreach programs, indoors or outdoors, specifically designed to meet the needs and interests of your group!

Programs offerings include:

  • General or species-specific lectures about plants, wildlife, & the environment
  • Guided walks through the sanctuary & formal gardens
  • Birding lectures & field trips (e.g. Important Bird Areas, Nighthawk Watch, Introduction to Shorebirds)
  • Evening wildflower rambles
  • Wednesday Morning Walks featuring anything from composting to stone walls to water insects to slime molds
  • Seasonal activities (e.g. Summer Evening Mushroom Walk, Cross-Country Skiing, Winter Plant ID)
