For children in grades K–6

Spend your February school vacation at Habitat, exploring and learning about nature in winter! 

Under the supervision of staff instructors, participants engage in environmental education activities, games, arts and crafts, and scientific experiments that focus on winter natural history.

Raccoons, Chipmunks, & Bears, Oh My!

Learn about New England’s 7 sleepers and how they stay snug in their dens, snoozing away the cold winter months.

Wednesday, February 21
Outstanding Owls

Whoo, whoo, whoo rules the night sky? Investigate the amazing adaptations of owls—how they find food, how they stay warm and hidden, how they communicate. Are they really wise or nature’s perfect predator?

Thursday, February 22
Nature Detectives

There has been a crime at Habitat! Put on your detective hats and bring your magnifying glasses as we search for signs of what happened and whodunit. Will you be able to find the clues and solve the mystery?

Thirteen Moons on Turtle’s Back

When is the Sap Moon and why is it called that? Discover the names that Native Americans gave for each full moon and why. Learn how Native Americans spent their time during the Sap Moon, telling stories, playing games and harvesting the sweet maple sap.
