Celebrate PRIDE at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary
Mass Audubon’s Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary and Queer Hub MV invite you to take a walk on the wild side. As part of Pride at Mass Audubon, a series of events to celebrate Pride Month at wildlife sanctuaries across Massachusetts, the first-ever Martha’s Vineyard Nature-Inspired Drag Show will take place on June 3, 2023, at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary. Nature is accepting and inclusive and has so many examples of a broad way of being. Navigating the climate crisis needs diversity to adapt and survive. We must be able to think outside of the norm or dominant mindset and change our lifestyles to adapt to the climate crisis with new ways of being and new ways of living through resilience, strength, and growth. These are the ways this planet and this world can heal.
Calling interested performers!
Interested in drag, but tired of king/queen binaries? Are you enraptured with raptors, a lover of trees, fungus, or moss? Find ways to invite your inner beastliness out and dissolve your modern human hang-ups or try just a fun, low-stakes opportunity to do something new in a creative community.
If you have always wanted to try drag performance, but need some support, please join artists Eli Nixon and Hana van der Kolk for a workshop to develop a collaboratively created performance on expanding drag and embarrassment as key to transformation. All ages and identities welcome especially those in the LGBTQ+ community. No experience necessary.
To sign up for a slot in the show please email [email protected] or 508-627-4850.
