Broadmoor Nature Camp | Sample Schedule

No two days are alike at Broadmoor Nature Camp, but this sample schedule gives an overview of daily activities and flow. 

8–9 am

Before Camp Program (Optional)

During this optional period (registration required), campers can choose from a variety of activities including games, crafts or free play by the sanctuary’s pavilion.  

9–9:30 am

Welcome & Social Games

Campers arrive at their unique camp meeting space to reunite and socialize. They may play name games or do an activity to get to know one another better.

Parents and staff can communicate at this time about their camper and how the day may go.

9:30–10:15 am

Nature Theme Introduction, Activities, & Games

Campers are introduced to Theme of the Day with a fun activity, such as the Mystery Box, a story, or a skit put on by counselors!

They may also play a game to deepen their understanding of a theme or concept such as life cycles.

10:15–10:30 am

Morning Snack Break

After cleaning hands, campers enjoy a snack sent from home, usually in a shady spot out on the sanctuary.

After they finish, campers perform a tick-check, then reapply sunscreen and bug spray.

10:30–Noon

Nature Exploration & Investigation

Campers directly interact with nature on trails, in the meadows, in the forest, and from the boardwalks to find plants and organisms related to the day’s theme!

They may use scavenger hunts or tools, such as magnifying glasses, to aid their investigation.

Noon–12:30 pm

Lunch

After cleaning hands, campers enjoy lunch sent from home, usually in a shady spot out on the sanctuary.

After they finish, campers perform a tick-check, then re-apply sunscreen and bug spray.

12:30-1 pm

Curiosity Club Activity & Wrap-up

Mini Discoverers participate in a final activity or craft and then share their favorite moments of the day with their camp group during wrap-up. Games are played as campers await pick-up.

Parents and staff can communicate at this time about their camper and how the day went.

12:30–2:30 pm

Nature Exploration, Activities, & Games

Campers directly interact with nature on trails, in the meadows, in the forest, and from the boardwalks to find plants and organisms related to the day’s theme!

Concepts are reinforced through fun thematic activities, crafts, and games (including camp favorite, Camouflage).

2:30–3 pm

Camper Wrap-up

Campers share their favorite moments from the day with their camp groups.

3–3:15 pm

Camper Pick-up

At their group meeting space, campers participate in simple games such as “Everybody-is-It Tag,” where they can exit the group as they are picked up without affecting the game.

Parents and staff can communicate at this time about their camper and how the day went.

3–5:30 pm

After Camp Program (Optional)

During this optional period (registration required), campers go on a short hike at the sanctuary and have an afternoon snack brought from home.

The group then returns to the pavilion area at 4pm and chooses among free play, crafts or games while they await pick-up.
