Arcadia Nature Camp | Staff
Camp Director – Patti Steinman (she/her)
Camp Director Patti Steinman has been part of the Mass Audubon family for 30 years, both as a teacher and an administrator. She holds a Masters of Science from Antioch University New England.
Along with camp, Patti oversees the Arcadia Nature Preschool and leads adult programs for Mass Audubon. One of Patti’s favorite things at camp is to see campers return as CITs and then as staff, and she gets really excited when campers go on to pursue environmental careers.
Assistant Camp Director – Kim Hoff (she/her)
Kim Hoff is a Teacher Naturalist at Arcadia, heading into her third year as the Assistant Camp Director. She has a Masters of Science in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England.
During the off-season, Kim develops curriculum and teaches nature programs to school groups at Arcadia and in elementary school classrooms. With essays published in several natural history magazines and online journals, Kim also teaches statewide nature writing classes for adults through Mass Audubon.
Our Camp Staff
The caring counselors at Arcadia Nature Camp are chosen for their enthusiasm, experience, maturity, nature knowledge, sense of fun and safety, and ability to work with children in an outdoor setting. They are college graduates, professionals, or undergraduate students in an environmental or educational field. The staff radiate enthusiasm for outdoor exploration and a passion for education, while creating a nurturing and inclusive community which makes Arcadia Nature Camp a truly special place.
All staff undergo background checks, are certified in CPR and first aid, and receive training in health and safety procedures, child development, natural history, and environmental education best practices. Mass Audubon requires that all staff, regardless of their work location, disclose their vaccination status. Proof of vaccination status is required immediately upon hire.
