Outstanding reports this week included the continued presence of a Ross’s Goose in the Carson Beach/Moakley Park area in South Boston and another one at Nantucket; 5 Greater White-fronted Geese on a field across from Short Beach, and later at the Nahant Golf Course in Nahant; a Townsend’s Solitaire at Demarest Lloyd State Park in South Dartmouth; and a continuing Summer Tanager at a feeder in Plymouth.
Reports from the Parker River Refuge at Plum Island included 50 Black Scoters, 2 Red-necked Grebes, 2 Razorbills, 3 Bald Eagles, a Rough-legged Hawk, a Snowy Owl, 2 Common Ravens, 2 Hermit Thrushes, and 11 Snow Buntings.
In Lowell on the Merrimac River near the Tsongas Arena there was a Barrow’s Goldeneye, 13 Iceland Gulls, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, and 3 Glaucous Gulls.
Miscellaneous reports included 17 Harlequin Ducks at Manomet Point in Manomet; single Barrow’s Goldeneyes in Somerset and New Bedford; a Pacific Loon and a Thick-billed Murre at Andrew’s Point in Rockport; 2 Rough-legged Hawks at the Cumberland Farms fields in Middleboro and 2 more at Dunback Meadow in Lexington; 3 Snowy Owls at Squantum and singles in West Gloucester and Bass Rocks in Gloucester; a Short-eared Owl at Allens Pond in South Dartmouth; and an Orange-crowned Warbler in Ipswich.
