Costa Rica Birding Trail Tour

Mass Audubon leader and naturalist, Sue MacCallum, returned from a fabulous trip to Costa Rica with a group of 8 enthusiastic birders.
The group traveled in the northern section of the country with a dash down the Pacific slope to Jaco. Many habitats were covered:
- Mangroves and river edges along the Tarcoles River
- Forest trails at Braullio Carillo
- Carara National Parks
- Arenal Volcano
- Nicaraqua along the border
In total they saw 247 bird species – with group favorites, including:

- American Pygmy Kingfisher
- Red-capped Manakin
- Red-legged Honeycreeper
- Yellow-thighed Finch
- Bare-throated TigerHeron
- Green Ibis
- Black-crested Coquette
- Turquoise-browed Motmot
- Violet Sabrewing
