Nantucket: Ongoing sightings from Miacomet this week included 4 Northern Shovelers, a Tufted Duck, 2 Common Gallinules, and a Short-eared Owl.

South of Boston: Two rare geese continue in the Dartmouth area—a Greater White-fronted Goose at the Slocum’s River Preserve and a Pink-footed Goose along Barney’s Joy Road. Sightings from Mass Audubon's Allen’s Pond Wildlife Sanctuary included a Marsh Wren and a Yellow-breasted Chat. There were 17 Red Crossbills at Horseneck Beach.

Greater Boston: There were 2 Glaucous Gulls and 46 Common Redpolls at Deer Island in Boston. A King Eider was reported from the vicinity of Boston Harbor.

North Shore: An Atlantic Puffin and 19 Common Murres were seen at Andrew’s Point in Rockport, which has recently been re-opened to the public after access was briefly closed by the Town of Rockport. Observers found a Nelson’s Sparrow at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. A Bohemian Waxwing was seen in a flock of 14 Cedar Waxwings in the Newburyport Industrial Park. 

Western MA: A Red-breasted Merganser—normally a marine duck—showed up on the Quabbin Reservoir this week. An unseasonably early flock of 93 Red-winged Blackbirds were seen on Egremont Road in Great Barrington.
