Farmer’s Market Volunteers
About Mass Audubon
Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England. Founded in 1896 by two women who fought for the protection of birds, Mass Audubon carries on their legacy by focusing on the greatest challenges facing the environment today: the loss of biodiversity, inequitable access to nature, and climate change. With the help of our 160,000 members and supporters, we protect wildlife, conserve and restore resilient land, advocate for impactful environmental policies, offer nationally recognized education programs for adults and children, and provide endless opportunities to experience the outdoors at our wildlife sanctuaries. About This Position
Are you passionate about food justice and equitable access to affordable, organic vegetables?
The Farm at Moose Hill is looking for capable, enthusiastic volunteers to support our farm in two different locations: Mattapan Farmers Market and Egleston Farmers Market. Both locations will offer a welcoming atmosphere for shoppers as they select fresh, organic produce from Mass Audubon.
Each week, you will join our staff member at the location of the market. The market team will work together to get the display set up, label produce, and ensure technology is ready to go. Throughout the market, we ask that you enthusiastically greet and communicate with customers. You must be comfortable sharing accurate information about our farm’s growing practices, seasonal cooking, and storage advice. You’ll work to make sure that the display is well-stocked and produce remains fresh throughout the entirety of the market. There may be some heavy lifting involved and occasional uncomfortable weather. Fluency in another language is a plus (Spanish and/or Haitian-Creole). You will have the opportunity to take home fresh, organic produce each week!
The ideal volunteer will also support Mass Audubon’s commitment to climate change education, equity, and justice and bring a diverse range of experiences, expressions, and views to their work.
Opportunities are available at both the Egleston Square Market and the Mattapan Square Market.
