Farm at Moose Hill Volunteers
About Mass Audubon
Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England. Founded in 1896 by two women who fought for the protection of birds, Mass Audubon carries on their legacy by focusing on the greatest challenges facing the environment today: the loss of biodiversity, inequitable access to nature, and climate change. With the help of our 160,000 members and supporters, we protect wildlife, conserve and restore resilient land, advocate for impactful environmental policies, offer nationally recognized education programs for adults and children, and provide endless opportunities to experience the outdoors at our wildlife sanctuaries. About This Position
Our farmers grow a wide variety of organic vegetables & fruit which are distributed through our Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA), at our on-site farm stand, hunger relief organizations, local food pantries, and urban farmers’ market. We also donate at least 15% of produce grown on the farm. This is local farming at its best and you can learn about organic agriculture as you assist our staff with classic field tasks including harvesting, transplanting, weeding, and thinning. Tasks may include walking on uneven surfaces, stooping, bending, working near ground level, and carrying - often during hot weather conditions. No prior experience is needed.
We welcome individual and small group volunteers to join us on Saturday mornings throughout the growing season. You will have the opportunity to meet community members who also have an interest in learning more about where their food comes from!
This is also a great opportunity for corporate groups and other professional organizations to get outside with your coworkers and give back to your community! We welcome organized groups on Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons during our peak season, mid-May through October.
