Boreal Breeding Birds in the White Mountains

Description

New Hampshire's White Mountain region hosts several bird species that require high-elevation habitats for breeding. This trip is designed to look for a variety of wood warblers, vireos, flycatchers, and woodpeckers at the peak of their breeding season. We will explore the Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge and the Franconia region of the White Mountains in search of Mourning, Bay-breasted, Canada, Chestnut-sided, and Black-throated Blue warblers; Olive-sided Flycatcher; Wilson’s Snipe; Black-backed Woodpecker; and many other Boreal Forest breeders. The highlight of this adventure will no doubt be the quest to see and hear the Bicknell’s Thrush at 4,000 feet of elevation atop Cannon Mountain.
