Ipswich River Homeschool: Mixed-Age Flock

Description

Our Mixed-Age Flock is our afternoon homeschool class. The topics and activities will be the same as the morning Red-tailed Hawk group, but this is a mixed-age class, with younger and older students exploring together. Our classes introduce homeschool students to basic ecology while nurturing an appreciation for and understanding of the natural world.

This season each group will explore the many ecosystems of the Sanctuary from fields, to forests, to wetlands. How are these wild places the same or different? What plants and animals are waiting to be found in each? Through hikes, hands-on activities, and up-close observation of live animals, we will investigate the cycles and connections that these places share and also what makes them so wonderfully unique.

April 24: What are the Parts of an Ecosystem?

May 1: Life Cycles in the Vernal Pool

May 8: The Mystery of the Disappearing Log

May 15: Water Cycles in the Wetland

May 22: Who Eat Who in the Field?

May 29: Gnome Home Day - Sharing Resources in an Ecosystem

*Make up date is on Wednesday June 5th if needed
