For four and five year olds in the company of a favorite adult.
This series of discovery classes opens the doors to family explorations. Each session includes a short introduction indoors, and then we will go outside for a hike. Each participant will receive a journal. This program is also offered on Friday mornings.

Monarch Butterflies: September 16
Become a butterfly as we learn about the life cycle of the amazing monarch butterfly. We will search the sanctuary's butterfly garden for monarch eggs and caterpillars, and then hike to the meadow to observe these fluttering marvels.

Wonderful Wetlands: September 23
We'll hike to the sanctuary wetlands and search for ducks, frogs, turtles, and snakes. Then, equipped with buckets and field guides, we will pond from the water's edge.

Autumn Fielding: September 30
Become a detective and search the fields and meadows for insects and their relatives. We will take a closer look using sweep nets and hand lenses.

Beavers: October 7
Have you ever visited a beaver lodge? We'll take a discovery walk to one of the lodges on the sanctuary and discover how busy beavers really are. Learn how a lodge is constructed and look for beaver scent mounds.

Fall Harvest: October 14
Fall is a busy time for animals who are preparing for winter. It is also a time when trees and shrubs are filled with nuts and berries. Participate in a harvest hunt and create a collage.

Lovely Leaves: October 21
Join us for an autumn leaf walk and discover that all leaves have unique features. Participate in a leaf scavenger hunt and make leaf rubbings to take home.

Instructions and Directions: Meets in the Nature Center. Please dress for the weather since we will spend most of our time outdoors. The fee covers one adult/child pair. Limited to 8 adult/child pairs.
