About the Artist, James Wang

James Wang is a practicing physician who has been a photographer for over 50 years. In the past several years he has revived his interests in birding and photography, inspired by his wife’s work in conservation and birding.

James Wang's love of nature and photography allows him to capture the beauty and wonder of the world around us. In his images, he hopes to capture the full range of boldness and subtleties in nature.

James says, “When taking photos, I try to capture the essence of my subject showing candid behavior. While I am capturing images of birds and animals as a formal documentation for scientific purposes, I also want the images to be as pleasingly artistic as possible. I hope to have the public see and enjoy the beauty of nature as I do, and maybe kindle a drive in them to more actively work to help save our environment.”

James received an honorable mention in the 2023 Mass Audubon Photo Contest for his comedic photograph, "The Blush." He lives in Southwick, Massachusetts.
