Free Fun Friday at Visual Arts Center - July 20
Published: July 6, 2012
The Highland Street Foundation’s Free Fun Fridays program will offer free admission to the Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center on Friday, July 20, 2012, from 11am - 5pm. As part of this year’s Free Fun Friday program, each Friday the Foundation will feature five new cultural venues open free-of-charge for a record-breaking 50 participating venues this summer.
At the Visual Arts Center, the Private Passions exhibition will be open and free to the public. The exhibition investigates the question, “What motivates an art collector?” and explores some remarkable collections of art inspired by nature—and the stories of the people who brought them together. On view are artworks collected by 14 individuals, as well as a local fishing club.
There will be a scavenger hunt for children inside the exhibition gallery as well as several creative arts stations around the property for guests to dive into. Interested in clay? Try a pinch pot or create an animal figurine. At the printmaking station, create prints from foam blocks and natural materials from the trails. Feeling colorful? The spin-art area will have a rainbow of paint colors to choose from. And for the more nature-minded guests, nets and bug boxes will be available for investigation of our field.
(Groups of more than 10 are discouraged from attending on this day due to expected crowds. Please contact the Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center directly at (781) 821-8853 if there are any questions)
