Cuttyhunk and Elizabeth Island Cruises
Published: March 15, 2012

Escape to the unique Elizabeth Islands off the coast of Cape Cod. Discover the windswept landscape of Cuttyhunk and step back into a simpler time. Hike the natural preserves of tiny Penikese Island, known as “the sleeping land out in the water,” by the native Wampanoags.
Join us for excursions to Penikese and Cuttyhunk Islands off the southern coast of Massachusetts, on a privately chartered boat. The one and a half-hour boat trip, which leaves from Woods Hole, will take us through Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay along the Elizabeth Islands, with commentary focusing on landmarks, geology, wildlife, and the history of these quiet, protected islands. Along the way, we'll look for the many species of birds inhabiting this maritime ecosystem.
We offer two tours: a full day Penikese/Cuttyhunk dual island tour and a full day Cuttyhunk Tour. Each tour will include naturalist lead excursions through these magnificent islands, allowing participants to witness these islands unique natural and cultural history. Highlights include the abandoned Leper Colony and active Leach’s Storm Petrel and Tern colonies of Penikese, and the quaint village, harbor, and scenic views from 150’ high Lookout Hill on Cuttyhunk.
Penikese/Cuttyhunk dual tours depart Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm: August 19 September 9 September 23
