Hit the Trails by Snowshoe

Published: February 10, 2013

Kids Snowshoeing

A few inches of snow on the trails? Don’t let that keep you away. There’s no better way to explore the woods in winter than by snowshoe. It’s not only great exercise, but easy to do – if you can walk, you can snowshoe. Just about all of our wildlife sanctuaries welcome snowshoeing, and a few even offer equipment to rent or borrow*. Go it alone or join a guided program.

* Rent or borrow snowshoes at the following locations: Boston Nature Center, Broad Meadow Brook, Oak Knoll, Pleasant Valley, Wachusett Meadow. We recommend calling ahead to check on availability. Snowshoeing is not recommended at: Endicott, Joppa Flats, Nahant Thicket, Sampsons Island or Sesachacha Heathlands.
