Bird-a-thon 2005: Birding for Bucks - May 13 & 14 Help Massachusetts Audubon raise needed dollars by participating in Bird-a-thon 2005. All funds from the event go to the sanctuary or program of your choice.
A round-the-clock event, Bird-a-thon starts at 6:00 pm on May 13 and ends at 6:00 pm on May 14. Join a team and make a pledge! The more pledges, the more money we will raise, and that's good news for the Mass Audubon sanctuaries and programs that will benefit!
How does it work?
Sponsors pledge money toward the number of bird species seen by their team during the 24-hour birding event. On the day of the event, Bird-a-thon teams assemble and have fun trying to find as many birds by sight or sound as possible within the 24-hour time period.
Keeping the competitive spirit alive, teams are awarded incentives and prizes for different categories such as:
- The Hatheway Cup: a trophy for the team that raises the most money;
- The Brewster Cup: a trophy for the team that records greatest number of species; and
- Statewide Migration Award: a trophy for the team that shows greatest percentage of increase in fundraising
