Wellfleet Bay provides peace and unmatched beauty on the hillsides and shoreline overlooking Wellfleet Harbor. Extensive trails bring you to a panoramic salt marsh, sandy barrier beach, and pine woodlands, each attracting a wide array of wildlife. When marketing Cape Cod Field Schools, particularly the art, nature writing, and mindfulness-based courses, I frequently find myself using the phrase “learn to see the natural world” with the word see often emphasized in italics. But what do I really mean by that? In promoting artist and writer Julie Zickefoose’s upcoming nature journaling workshop (Forging a Deeper Connection to Nature, I return to this phrase because it holds a lot of meaning for me.
