Purple Martins were once familiar and much appreciated dwellers in towns and on farms throughout eastern Massachusetts, but their numbers plummeted in the 20th century.

Whether you are interested in supporting the Purple Martin Project as a volunteer or as a donor, we encourage you to join us for a free program to learn more about purple martins, their history, and how you can help.

In order to prepare for the return of our purple martins next spring, we need to provide new gourd houses for the expanding colony. And we need your help to make it happen. Your gift to the Purple Martin Project will help fund the addition of a new gourd house for the nesting purple martins that will return to Stony Brook this spring.
