Joppa Flats will be aflutter with indoor and outdoor family activity on Sunday, July 23, for a Butterflies and Bugs Free-for-All! Drop in anytime and learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know about butterflies, moths, and caterpillars from Joppa staff and volunteers.

Event Highlights

Get ready for hands-on learning! There will be several family-friendly activities, including lessons in backyard science, craft projects, and critter collecting demonstrations. 

What's That Bug?

Are there critters in your own back yard that you can’t identify? Bring in your specimen along with a sample of the plant it was on—or bring in a photo—and Joppa’s staff will do their best to help you learn to identify your “mystery bug.” 

Family Presentations

11:00 am, Noon, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm

School & Youth Education Coordinator Lisa Hutchings and other naturalists will offer family presentations throughout the event.

Free

No preregistration is required. This program will be held rain or shine. All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by adults.
