Campers at Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary

Located at the Essex County Greenbelt Association’s Cox Reservation in Essex, campers ages 7–10 learn about nature, meet new friends, and have fun as they explore salt marsh habitat and observe wildlife up close. Small group sizes allow us to provide a high-quality educational experience and a welcoming, supportive environment.

Camp Hours

Full Day: 9 am–3 pm


One-Week Theme Sessions (ages 7–10, full day)

One-week themed sessions blend outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, games, songs, and crafts. Special activities include an Essex River cruise, Choate Island exploration, and creating nature art projects. Sessions are offered in August, and age groups include:

Essex Explorers (ages 7–10)
One-week themed camps for children to discover the amazing coastal creatures that live in a salt marsh. An artist studio barn provides a unique base for campers to play nature games and activities.
