Boston Nature Center & Wildlife Sanctuary

Located just outside of downtown Boston on the former grounds of the Boston State Hospital, the Boston Nature Center (BNC) is a community-based urban sanctuary. Trails and boardwalks traverse meadows and wetlands, home to over 150 species of birds, 40 species of butterflies, and more than 350 species of plants. BNC receives Mass Energy award

On December 7, the BNC received an award from Mass Energy for ongoing efforts to make renewable energy accessible and visible to Boston Residents.

Boston Nature Center’s dear friend, Anne F. Brooke, died October 13, 2016. Anne is a key reason why the BNC exists today, and she was an extraordinary advocate for providing nature-based education in the heart of the city to children and families.
