Boston Nature Center & Wildlife Sanctuary
Located just outside of downtown Boston on the former grounds of the Boston State Hospital, the Boston Nature Center (BNC) is a community-based urban sanctuary. Trails and boardwalks traverse meadows and wetlands, home to over 150 species of birds, 40 species of butterflies, and more than 350 species of plants. Over 30 Blue Crew members volunteered at the BNC on Wednesday, September 15 as part of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massacusetts Service Day 2015.
BNC is thrilled to join a growing network of organizations that have created effective nature-based outdoor learning environments for children. This national certification comes from Dimensions Educational Research Foundation and the Arbor Day Foundation.
