Cape May, New Jersey, is recognized worldwide as one of the most exciting birding locations in North America. During our four-day program, we will visit the historic island and oceanfront community looking for the large numbers of bird species present - both spring migrants and lingering winter visitors.

En route to Cape May, we will stop at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge (often referred to as Brigantine). This 20,000-acre refuge encompasses extensive salt marshes, freshwater impoundments, and upland forests. Here, we expect to see many species of shorebirds in their rich breeding plumages, as well as waterfowl, terns, and wood-warblers. After our afternoon visit to the refuge, we will continue on to Cape May, where we will stay for two nights. At Cape May, we will visit Higbee Beach, the South Cape May Meadows, and Cape May Point State Park. We will also venture west along the Delaware Bay shore, stopping at many excellent birding locations, including Reeds Beach, Moores Beach, and Belleplain State Forest. On day three, we will head north and stop at Stone Harbor to look for shorebirds and seabirds, prior to an overnight stay in the Brigantine area. We want to be at the refuge by dawn the next day for early-morning birding and will leave by midmorning for our return trip to Massachusetts.

Target birds for our trip include: clapper rail, northern bobwhite, American oystercatcher, red knot, gull-billed tern, black skimmer, yellow-throated warbler, prothonotary warbler, Kentucky warbler, hooded warbler, worm-eating warbler, yellow-breasted chat, blue grosbeak, seaside sparrow, and boat-tailed grackle.

Rates are for double occupancy. A single-room supplement is available for an additional $200. Please call 978-462-9998 for a detailed program brochure.

Instructions and Directions: Final payment is due April 3. Trip leaders will send out trip materials after final payment is received, approximately two weeks prior to the trip's start date. Cancellations made within 30 days of departure cannot be refunded or credited unless we can fill your space.

Registration is required.
