Butterfly Bon Voyage!

Sponsored by Boston Nature Center

Sat, Sep 08, 2012 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Location: Boston Nature Center, Mattapan
Audience: Family (suitable for children 5 - 12 years)
Members: Adult free, Child $5.00
Nonmembers: Adult free, Child $7.00

Join us to learn about the unique journey of the monarch butterfly, from New England all the way to Mexico. Younger participants will explore the meadows for monarchs and other butterflies while learning about their life cycles, habitat, and food needed to thrive. They will also have the opportunity to create a paper butterfly that will spend the winter with school children who live near the monarch butterfly sanctuaries in the mountains of Michoacan, Mexico. Older participants will be able to tour the butterfly garden and help tag monarch butterflies. Together we will release a number of monarchs to start their journey south.

Registration is required.
