In late fall and winter, long-tailed ducks (AKA oldsquaws) are back in town and we have a chance to witness their spectacular flights when tens of thousands fly over Nantucket at dusk and dawn. Many other species of sea ducks like goldeneyes and harlequins winter here, as do loons, alcids, and gulls.
