Seashore Ramble
Sponsored by Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
Thu, Jun 24, 2010 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Location: Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, South Wellfleet Instructor: WBWS Naturalist Audience: Family (suitable for children 4 - 16 years) Members: Adult $5.00, Child $5.00 Nonmembers: Adult $7.00, Child $7.00
Use dip nets and magnifiers to search for swimming, flying, and burrowing wildlife on the sanctuary's beach at low tide. Our walk to the beach will take us through five different Cape Cod habitats. We hope to see crabs, turtles, fish, and much more!
We'll begin our walk at the nature center, and continue down the Robert R. Read All Persons Accessible Pathway on the Goose Pond Trail. When we reach the salt marsh, we'll be walking in sandy or muddy areas, then proceed to the boardwalk out to the beach. At the beach, we'll explore independently and gather together again to take a closer look at all of the animals we've caught. You are welcome to stay at the beach with your family to continue exploring, or join the naturalist for the return walk to the nature center.
We invite children as young as four years old to join us on this excursion. Parents, please note that we rely on your judgment of the suitability of this walk for your child(ren). We encourage you to consider your child's previous experiences in the conditions described above.
