Wed, Dec 09, 2009 9:30 am - 12:30 pm Location: Newburyport and vicinity Instructors: Dave Weaver - Birder's Certificate Program graduate; Bill Gette - Joppa Flats Sanctuary Director Audience: Adult Fee: Adults $12.00m/ $15.00nm September marks the beginning of our fourteenth year of Wednesday Morning Birding! These very popular programs provide an excellent opportunity to explore one of the most productive birding areas in the country. To date, we have seen over 300 species of birds on these Wednesday field trips.
During this fall and early winter, we will conduct our field trips to birding hot spots in the Newburyport/Plum Island area. The focus for our programs will be the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge (Plum Island), the Merrimack River estuary, Cape Ann, and other productive areas in Essex County. We expect to see a large number of shorebirds, egrets and herons, waterfowl, and migrating songbirds. When appropriate, we will adjust our itinerary to search for rarities reported in the area.
This program is ideal for birders of all skill levels. Four-trip special: $36 member, $45 nonmember. Trips need not be consecutive for special price. Instructions and Directions: Meet at the Joppa Flats Education Center unless otherwise noted. Call to sign up for the Wednesday Morning Birding e-mail list. Please wear appropriate clothes and bring binoculars, spotting scopes, and snacks or lunch. Registration not required. For more information, contact: Joppa Flats P.O. Box 1558
