Fri, Jan 01, 2010 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Instructor: Dave Larson - Joppa Flats Education Coordinator
Audience: Adult
Fee: Adults $40.00m/ $50.00nm

Early January is a wonderful time for birding and for celebrating the beauty of winter. Join us for an all-day field trip to the Newburyport/Plum Island area and Cape Ann to search for wintering land birds and seabirds.

In the Newburyport area, we will bird the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Salisbury Beach State Reservation, and the Merrimack River. On Cape Ann, we will visit Halibut, Andrews, and Eastern points; several areas along Atlantic Avenue; and the Brace Cove/Niles Pond area. Target bird species will include the snowy owl, northern shrike, Lapland longspur, snow bunting, harlequin duck, and other sea ducks, loons, and grebes. This is a great way to start the new year!

Instructions and Directions: Meet at the Joppa Flats Education Center. Please bring warm clothing and waterproof shoes/boots, binoculars, snacks, and a lunch.

Registration is required.
